Heating during power outage??
With the winter upon us, I am concerned about power outages and keeping my son's ball python warm enough. I have lost power for up to a week before so I want to make sure I have an alternative. I can always take him to the local wildlife center and they will "foster" him until I get electricity back, but should anything happen during the middle of the night or a blizzard, etc. I need something immediately.
I was thinking about getting a case of those hand/foot warmers - if I opened up a couple of those and put them under a towel in the snake's tank - would that be enough for a a short term? They say they are non-toxic but I still worry.
Any other thoughts?
Thanks so much!!

I have already lost my power for a few days and my generator blew up on me. I lost a bunch of my feeders in one freezer. I WOULD LOOK FOR THE 24 HOUR HEAT PACKS AVAILABLE ON LINE AND THE TOWEL IDEA WILL WORK!

ya those work awesome in a pinch, just be sure the snake cannot come in direct contact with them, also if you have a hot water bottle thats works in an emergency as well.

Thanks so much - the hot water bottle idea is great too. I will make sure to have both on hand.

Thanks again!!

The water bottle is a good idea but you have gas for the stove or a camping stove to heat the water. When we have a power outage I bring in my coleman camping stove for all the cooking and hot water needs. Because of hurricanes and violent storms I make sure we always have lots of seasoned wood, batteries, candles and propane for my camping stove! All this assuming you don't have a generator... I blew mine up!

Just remember they can bite through those bags if you accidently lay on them!
