Childrens Python (Antaresia childreni) question
I just got my first snake, a children python. (which i have named Lt. Dan, cause HE AINT GOT NO LEGS!) and i just got a few questions.

Hes eating pinky mice, I've fed him once so far (last Friday) and was told where i bought him(or her) to feed him every 7-10 days. so the plan is to feed'm on Fridays.

I want him to grow quickly, and was told i could try feeding him 2 mice a week and he will grow faster. but i want to make sure this isn't going to harm him in anyway. some animals, like dogs, will keep eating and eating if they have food offered to them regardless of health implications. Are snakes like this? or will he just not take a second mouse if he doesn't need/want it? I want him to grow quickly, but dont want to risk his health to do it.
little advice??

Impatient are we? LOL. It takes a lot for someone to get back and it's only been a day since you first posted. People do have other things to do that be on computers 24/7. Now, why do you want him to grow bigger quickly? That always just leads to them getting bigger as time goes by, so why not enjoy it as it goes?

Sorry, we all left this site because there were major bot problems but now it's been cleared up and we are checking in more. First of all, nice name for your snake, that's pretty funny.
Just feed one proper sized mouse per week. It is possible to feed your snake lots of food to make it grow, that's called power feeding, but it it TERRIBLE for the snake. It shortens the life span and it's just really unhealthy just as it is for people and all other animals. Besides, it's a childrens python. Those things stay tiny anyway lol. Anyway, congrats on your new snake. Sorry we've been away, but we should be around more if you need anything else.

seriously don't rush the snakes growth. it really isn't that good for them, just feed one appropriate sized mouse once a week is fine. good luck

As a baby you can feed 2 pinkies a week but when he gets to taking small mice cut back to 1 mouse a week and stay on 1 feeder per week until full grown. Power feeding to get a larger snake quickly is as all have said harmful to your snake especially if your intention is breeding. A breeder must be usually 3 years old for a female (redtail) and 2 years for a male (again a redtail).
I have a baby children's python (Nikki's) that I am feeding 2 new born pinkies a week to and she is growing slowly, once she progresses up to hoppers I will cut down to 1 a week. A baby children's python eats 1 day old pinkies (remember, pinkies must be no bigger than the fattest part of your snake) !!

hey Denny!
how old before can go on to small mice??? it should i keep her on Pinkies til she's a 1-year old???

You will have to judge by the size of the snake...when she is smaller around her middle than the hoppers, then move up to small mice!
