I came across this little fellow in Beijing Zoo

He was happy to smile for me. Or at me Im not sure which lol.

lovesnuffles 07-14-2009 08:52 PM

"Little fellow"? ::snickers::

Brendan-in-China 07-14-2009 08:55 PM

I go visit him a lot, next time I will take my daughter and get a pic of both to show how big he really is.

lovesnuffles 07-14-2009 08:57 PM

Oh, I can imagine how big he really is. What, like 12-15 feet? o.o

Brendan-in-China 07-14-2009 09:06 PM

Hard to tell being coiled but I would but my guess at closer to 20. His head is about the same size as a womans head.

I spend much time in remote and dense jungle like areas, I dont usually take snapshots but next time I come across a snake I will post it here. Generally I am trying to avoid them or they are trying to avoid me so fast there is no time.

Roy 07-15-2009 09:01 AM

He's a beautiful snake, great yawn.

Brendan-in-China 07-15-2009 09:09 AM

I was very surprised by the actual speed he can move at. I had never seen an anaconda before in real life and heard they were fast. Occasinally (especially when hes in a bad mood which you can tell on certain days) he will hear something and rocket his head up.

I can see why so many people say dont keep anacondas as pets. Very beautiful but very dangerous to.

parker 07-15-2009 05:48 PM

fyi, im 99.9999999% sure its not an anaconda, its an albino burmese python. i want one soooo bad! we have at least 2 People (Doug and Thom) with cute!

lovesnuffles 07-16-2009 12:07 AM

Parker, albino anacondas and burms look almost the same .... Pretty sure it's an anaconda .... The markings look anaconda .... But it's hard to tell without seeing the head. If the zoo marked it as an anaconda, it's an anaconda. =/

parker 07-16-2009 02:02 AM

oh, really? i didnt know that there were such. coolio. they look exactly the same.

lovesnuffles 07-16-2009 02:15 AM

Not quite ... I think the burms have a touch more white o.o But it's still very close =O

Brendan-in-China 07-16-2009 12:38 PM

I put a few pictures giving a better view of his head in my album rather than filling this thread up with pictures of the same snake if anybody wanted a closer look.

The zoo description is ecuadorian albino anaconda. But in all honesty in China official names dont really mean a lot.

yea idk i like that name ha

lovesnuffles 10-16-2009 03:48 AM

Lol, I dunno if I like the name Satan because of the whole bad reputation snakes get with him :/ Since he supposedly appeared to Adam and Eve as a serpent and now everyone thinks snakes are evil and whatnot. Idiots.

Especially Satan for a female :O

gordon21 10-16-2009 05:31 AM

NASAAN101 11-12-2009 11:10 PM

He is tiny.. What kind of snake is he? Hes cute, but werid looken, but a a cool way?!

lovesnuffles 11-12-2009 11:57 PM

He looks yellow!!

DodoBird27 11-13-2009 12:03 AM

Hes so cute!

Nikki, thats a Kenyan Sand Boa. A beautiful lookin one too!!

TylerAlmighty 11-13-2009 12:04 AM

lol He's a kenyan sand boa. They normally only get 3-4 feet as adults. And hes camera shy, i can never get a pic of him without him burying his face into my fingers. The camera did good justice on his colors on this one, hes a yellow-ish orange i suppose heh. Heres his feeding vid i just made today

lovesnuffles 11-13-2009 12:07 AM

He's one awesome looking little dude. He's YELLOW! .... That trips me out :/ Never seen a yellow one before :P

Poor mousy. I don't think it even felt that bite, did it? :P

TylerAlmighty 11-13-2009 12:32 AM

I dont think so either, i think the mouse was more like "wtf?" about it at first lol. His first live pinky he struck it fast and double coiled it, but he might have been nervouse becaus he just shed and hes 4 days late for feeding..?

NASAAN101 11-13-2009 01:19 AM

hes cute, what is his name? is this a beginner snake or no? i watched the video, and the mistake he made was biting the mice on the butt.. but that just what i saw..

lovesnuffles 11-13-2009 01:54 AM

They are good beginner snakes Nikki. No, he didn't make a mistake in eating the mouse. The only mistake he could have made would have been to try to eat it belly first. My snakes try that sometimes.

DodoBird27 11-13-2009 02:17 AM

Lol PJ has eaten one belly first before xD He totally bent the poor thing in half, I didn't think it would fit down his throat!
KSBs are good beginnger snakes, but they can be nippy sometimes.

raptor667 11-13-2009 02:35 AM

Good Vid, good lighting and a very pretty snake.....but come on, there's no reason for you to feed it live rodents. It's getting to the point now that the RSPCA are actually prosecuting some people who feed live vertebrate food items to snakes.

Do the right thing and switch to frozen or at least prekill the mouse first, there's no reason for it to suffer like that.

Also newly proven, frozen is better for the snake....because freezing the mouse/rat/gerbil kills almost all parasites in the food item.

NASAAN101 11-13-2009 02:42 AM

like i said, im new at keeping snake, so I'm trying to learn as much as i can before i really my a choose on what kind of snake i should get!!

DodoBird27 11-13-2009 03:50 AM

You say that in every post, we understand lol
He was talking to Tyler though...
