Hmmm .... O.o I'm sure there's a metal you could keep cool ....

I could ask my ag teacher, anyway .... I have to ask him for duck eggs anyway -.-' Don't ask about that.

dwg1211 04-12-2008 06:25 AM

eh... the metal is not going to collect that much heat... besides, there'll be a substrate..

tmmpin 04-12-2008 09:33 AM

I suppose if a person used carpet (like Thom does). I know the aspen I use in mine, my balls like to dig in it.
Looking at Thoms condo he built I got a feeling he has a pretty good plan if he is even considering it.

dwg1211 04-12-2008 01:45 PM

a few pics I took last night... you can see where I misted her to help her shed..

Shedding! :D

That third picture looks really cool ... Her face looks like a little nugget of gold <33

dwg1211 04-12-2008 10:56 PM

yep.. checked her this morning and she did a great job.. complete shed in only a couple of pieces.. she also left a huge 'gift' for me..
got that all cleaned up and took her out for a bit.. she's so full of energy after shedding... all 'cleaned-up' and 'cleaned-out'.. 8)

Roy 04-13-2008 12:14 AM

She looks bewildered. I'm sure she knows what she's doing.

lovesnuffles 04-13-2008 02:02 AM

Yeah, that last picture is kinda like "You caught me undressing!"

Roy 04-13-2008 04:06 AM

Here is a pic of my two relaxing in they're nest. :D

Roy 04-13-2008 04:08 AM

And Ruby having a bath. :D I'm sorry that the photos are a bit blurry.

raptor667 04-13-2008 09:30 AM

Doug - Nice pics, Saffron looks a bit like shes got her head scarf on and was caught out in the rain...lol.....her new clothes look rather bright and shiny though. Those 'wascally wabbits' are definitely agreeing with her,

Roy - Nice pics, we don't get to see serge and ruby very often but they are looking great......one question...whats the plant pot for??????

I like the way the bottom snake in the top pic looks like he/she is smiling at the camera.

Roy 04-13-2008 09:36 AM

Yeah thanks Raptor, that's my Ruby being cheesy. :D

The flower pot has a light bulb in it to keep their enclosure warm and the pot won't get too
hot that they may burn themselves, it cuts most of the light from the bulb too. 8)

Here's another pic. One day I'll get one that is in focus.

lovesnuffles 04-13-2008 02:46 PM

xD She does look like she's smiling xD

And they're so cute <3 All snuggly up together and stuff >w<

I'd suggest a better camera, but that one, the parts that aren't blurry look pretty darn clear O.o

raptor667 04-13-2008 06:01 PM

Fairs fair thats a good looking pair of snakes you got there Roy.....the colour transition between the 2 from grey to orange is quite striking.

Does look a bit like the focusing lens on your camera is a little out though...what kind of camera is it???

dwg1211 04-13-2008 06:11 PM

love those snakes, Roy... you make me wish I could accomodate a 'mate' for Saffron.. one is enough for me right now.. but it looks like they're happy & well cared for.. good stuff!
yeah, 'snuffles.. & Rap... that last pic looks like she's thinking, 'do you mind?!..
it's beautiful outside.. not quite 60, though... might get her out to snap a few in her 'new duds'.. 8)

ssgdukes 04-13-2008 09:25 PM

Doug and Roy nice pictures. You two are really doing a great job with your snakes. I really have to get some pictures on here soon but I am just busy lately. Right now as I am typing this I am also typing a case study for my Strategic Management class.....shows you how much I am interested in my homework :) Anyway great looking snakes guys and keep up the good work.

Roy 04-14-2008 09:10 AM

Thanks guys and girls, love to show them off. :D

MainStick 04-14-2008 03:46 PM

Roy, Love the Coastal Carpet Pythons... looks like they are really enjoying their home.

And Doug, that is one spoiled Python... only thing he needs is a little self misting car (I mean Snake) wash system in his tank.

... oh and on a side note, I am starting to get the feeling that I am losing my battle to resist the idea of finding a pair of Carpet Pythons and the beginning of a growing collection of pets to keep me company.

raptor667 04-14-2008 05:39 PM

I know the feeling......have been having leanings towards getting a new Snake.....

First I wanted a thai beauty ( Lovely snake but the smell a bit)

then I thought about a Rainbow boa ( beatiful snake but it's a bit high maintainence for me )........

soooooo I am now looking at Jungle carpets pythons....I would like to add it has nothing at all to do with the gorgeous 3 month old back and gold JCP at the local snake shop........... Honest ....lol

tmmpin 04-14-2008 07:31 PM

Great pictures.

dwg1211 04-14-2008 11:17 PM

thanks, all... I know you've all seen plenty of her pics.. but I'm trying to at least make them more interesting.. it's nice to be able to share with people who understand your pride.. 8)

raptor667 04-15-2008 12:22 AM

Keep 'em coming...love to see how other peoples pets are doing. :D

Roy 04-15-2008 10:49 AM

Always happy to see pix of Saffron Doug, thanks for the complements guys.

A bit of abstract photography too hey Doug?

Have you measured Saffron yet? I'm curious about her size. She must be at least 8 feet at a guess.

tmmpin 04-16-2008 09:59 AM

OOOO ahhhhhh Pretty spray bottle!!!
All I got is the flimsy plastic one.

dwg1211 04-16-2008 10:54 AM

I was checking on her yesterday and she 'struck a pose' (last pic) long enough for me to get the camera ready and take a pic.. it was cool the way she was coiled up with her neck ****ed back... then I noticed the condensation in the spray bottle (it's a cheap, plastic one I got at Lowes).. it made a cool design, so I snapped a pic and zoomed it.. thought it was neat looking so I posted it.. ok.. I was bored. ..... yep, Roy.. she's right at 8'.. she hasn't gotten much longer since I got her, but she's filled out quite a bit.. maybe, since she had been underfed for so long, she's gonna thicken up before she elongates.. suits me.. I wouldn't mind if she stayed the size she is.. not much chance of that, though.. 8)

tmmpin 04-16-2008 11:16 AM

Great pictures dwg.
As always I get carried away at the snake show looking for the next bargain. So I didn't get no pictures of the actual show. Hopefully in June I might manage to do better. I did pick up 3 more snakes though, also got a new cage. Here is a couple of pictures of my rack I built. While I am waiting on the flex watt to come in I already have 2 occupants in it. :(
That problem will be taken care of here in the next day or so.
Emerald Tree Boa, not exactly a GTP but we just had to have it.

Here is another picture of my spider, I just love this snake.
http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l2...3Snakes012.jpg
This is a new addition, Pastel, this one is 2 years old.
http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l2...3Snakes011.jpg
This is a female, she is het for piebald. Will go great with my male in a couple of years.
http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l2...3Snakes010.jpg
This is a picture of my rack, I got everything ordered for the heat. Should be here soon.

lovesnuffles 04-16-2008 02:51 PM

I love that first picture tmmpin xD He looks like someone jumped out at him and he's all "Ahhhhh!"

And Doug, Saffron is beautiful, as ever ;o

raptor667 04-16-2008 06:54 PM

Went to the local pet store today and they had an amelanistic Burm in there....so what do you think my 3year old daughter said...........

"Thats like the snake on the 'puter...Safon"...not bad for a 3 year old who only see's the computer occasionally...looks like Saffron has made a new friend....Or I spend to much time on here....psml

Andddddddddddddd......I got to hold a baby Jungle carpet python.....Very cute. It was about to shed so was a bit jumpy and not very colourful. But it was very, very cute. Expensive.....but very cute...189.

raptor667 04-16-2008 06:57 PM

Sorry....nearly forgot...Love the new arrivals Tmp.

The first pic does look abit like the snakes falling off the branch....damn that red eye reduction double flash....lol

tmmpin 04-16-2008 09:37 PM

Thanks..
The ETB is probably the only snake I actually am kind of scared of. Doesn't make much sense as to why get one.
All of my new arrivals did eat last night. Kind of interesting watching the ETB eat also, he never let go of his perch during the whole thing.

dwg1211 04-16-2008 10:51 PM

sweet snakes tmmpin! I love those ETBs.. there's a great picture of one on the cover of one of my books... (the New Encyclopedia of Snakes).. great Spider and Pastel, too... getting quite the collection going.. and enclosures.. nice setup! seen any signs of your Rainbow?

raptor667 04-16-2008 11:00 PM

SNAP...I got that book too. My kids got it for me last Christmas. It's one of the few books that doesn't try to talk down to you like your 12. Must admit to having to read it in stages though because it is a bit heavy in places.

Really cool book though, would recommend it to anyone who's into snakes.

tmmpin 04-17-2008 10:44 AM

The rainbow is still missing. About once a week we look around for it now.
I'm kind of giving up hope in finding it but then I get talking to other people on how long they had snakes loose in their house.

lovesnuffles 04-17-2008 03:02 PM

You'll find it :3 Don't worry.

Actually, if it were me, I'd check all the beds in the house ... Wouldn't be surprised if it curled up under a blanket and was like "Oooh, warm."

But I wouldn't know for sure O.o Cause ... I've not owned a snake yet and so therefore have never lost one.

tmmpin 04-17-2008 10:10 PM

This is the first one I lost and it's small enough it can make it anywhere it wants.
While we checked the obvious places (refrigerator, furnace, freezer, fireplace) we still haven't found it. When I talked to one of the breeders about it he said if you find them it will be somewhere you least expect.

IzzieMonster 04-18-2008 02:01 PM

tmmpin, she's beautiful! I love the ETB, they are amazing snakes! (does she bite ?) Anywho, nice new addition, Im sure the lady is probably just loving you for bringing more and more and more and more snakes home!!

How many snakes do you have now? like 82? :) j/k but have you moved into the double digets yet?

Could even have a job at a local green grocer selling apples. Go on, you know you want one!..... hiss....

tmmpin 04-18-2008 10:50 PM

I got 11 now, 12 if I ever find the one missing.
I am sure the ETB does bite, thats one thing they are known for.
