Strange Behavior

David Boa is acting funky the last few days.

he hangs out on the cold side of his terrarium which is not like him at all. If he ever did that it usually meant he pooped on the other side of the tank. Well i gave his tank a full cleaning this morning and changed out his substrate bedding. I checked the temp of his heat pad and it seemed hotter than usual. Can these things overheat? I unplugged it and am going to find one where i can control the heat manually.

any other ideas of why he wouldnt want to hang in his hide, where he has ALWAYS resided?

He just feels like cooling off. It's not strange. He's probably gone on the cool side before, but probably at night when you were asleep and not watching. Boas are usually lazy and tend to stay in one spot, but they will occasionally move. Don't be concerned :)

Love the name though >:] David is my boyfriend's name <3 Lmao

Yes they can overheat! All you need is a varistat between the heat mat and the wall so you can adjust the amount of current going into the plug and then to the mat. A simple dimmer switch will work with a plastic box for wiring in and out.

I unplugged the heat mat and David when I woke up this morning he was in his hide.

Going to have to do something about his heat mat
