Snake rescue
Wow what a day. Today is Saturday and at around 10:50 I was at work when I received a frantic call from my wife telling me that she saw a snake in the back yard and she called the dogs into the house thinking that it may have been a venomous snake. Anyway, long story short, I came home, found no snake and the dogs were ok. I decided to do some work in the garden and when I moved a few timber pallets to build some garden boxes, I found a very scared Carpet Python hiding amongst them.
I realized that he was the one that freaked out my wife and dogs. I took a few photos then decided to pick him up and release him into the bushland behind our house where he came from, then I realized that he was hurt. My dog had bit him and he was bleeding from the nose.
If you look at the last picture closely you can see his injury. As soon as I saw it, I told my wife we need to get him to a vet. We both jumped into the car and raced him down the road to the nearest vet that specializes in reptiles, but unfortunately at 5:00pm in the afternoon they were closed along with every other vet in Brisbane. So first thing tomorrow morning I will be taking this little guy to the vet. I will keep you all updated.

The poor little guy is terrified. I'll be taking him to a vet in about an hour.

Ok, I took him to the vet this morning. I handed him to the receptionist and she said "oh we love treating snakes here". I told her that my dogs attacked him and bit him on the nose and I said that when I picked him up I saw bubbles coming a hole in his head and blood coming from his nose. She said, "with an injury like that he may have to be put down, but we will do everything to help him". I said, "I have a wildlife keepers permit and enclosures at my home. If you need a home for him to recover, I'll be happy and willing to look after him until he recovers". She told me that she also keeps snakes and she will phone me and let me know if they need me to look after him and update me on his progress.

I spoke with the receptionist and she told me that they gave him a shot of antibiotics and he responded well. She had to keep him her over night and the RSPCA picked him up the next day to do some X-Rays on him to see if anything is broken and if he will need stitches. The receptionist assured me that he will recover well enough to be released back into the wild when he's healed up. Unfortunately I don't think I'll get to rehab him, but he is getting a lot of attention.
