Cool snake by the way

lovesnuffles 04-09-2009 01:33 AM

Nice picture dale! :D Honey is so sweet! <3 I want a big snake!! Whiskey and Seiko need to GROWW!! D:

dale64 04-09-2009 01:42 AM

We finally had a nice day and had extra hand.... Honey says thx

DodoBird27 04-09-2009 01:45 AM

Nothing really, I like the way you spell it xD

Honey! <3

parker 04-09-2009 01:53 AM

honey and saffron should be in a look alike contest =) they would win!

DodoBird27 04-09-2009 01:59 AM

All albino burms look the same... cept Saffron and Honey are cuter!

dale64 04-09-2009 02:33 AM

I think Saffron is a little thicker its them nummy wabbits....working on wabbits thats gona take a few months....any body got a guess by the tail if honey is a honey?

Howitz12 04-09-2009 02:38 AM

I think it is a honey just by the tail, pretty small

parker 04-09-2009 02:41 AM

their not that big. everyone makes a big deal about them. their not that big.

JessySihk 04-09-2009 03:09 AM

Parker Honey is a baby compared to how big a burm can get lol, trust me ;]

rainbowgirl 04-09-2009 03:14 AM

It does look like her tail is pretty long. That could mean that she is a he but I would get her probed because I don't know how reliable that tail thing is. I am sure you could get her probed fairly easy.

raptor667 04-09-2009 03:17 AM

Hi Dale....from the tale I would have to say Honey is boy.

Still a good looking snake....but a boy one....;)

And parker....with a length topping out at 22ft and weighing nearly 250lbs......how big did you want it to be??????

Twitch_1993 04-09-2009 03:18 AM

Honey's a really good looking snake Dale, looks like you're taking really good care of her.

DodoBird27 04-09-2009 04:03 AM

A dude named Honey? How embarrassing...

Still love her!

JessySihk 04-09-2009 04:14 AM

Doesnt anyone here every watch the youtube videos showing you how to 'Pop' a snake? Its very easy sexing but do it right or you can hurt your snake lol

DodoBird27 04-09-2009 04:26 AM

Exactly, some people don't trust them selves to do it just right, especially if its their first time. Its just safer to go to a vet.

dale64 04-09-2009 12:22 PM

I was thinking boy, Honey is going to have to live with a complex about his name..... nobody gets to make babies here unless its a feeder!!! so sex don't matter...babies would never leave... Honey thx you for compliments

lovesnuffles 04-09-2009 01:11 PM

Lol, Jessy, YOU go try to "pop" that nine foot burm xD

dale64 04-09-2009 02:08 PM

Sure Jess, just rember she hates skinny girls with strong perfume.... at least thats what they told me....

raptor667 04-10-2009 04:39 PM

lol.....poor Honey or could be Honey Monster now....lol

Jessy, popping is not 100% reliable ( not to mention looking painful )...all you will know is that if it pops it is def. a male if it doesn't pop it could still be a male and you could just be crap at popping or he could be stubborn.

The only real way is probing....and that just looks too painful.

I prefer the tail method......the trick is getting enough snakes of that species together to make a comparison

lovesnuffles 04-10-2009 06:00 PM

Plus, Honey is too old to be "popped" o.o Normally only babies should be popped because adults have better muscle control and it's even less accurate =/

dale64 04-11-2009 12:07 AM

When Honey goes to the vet I'll have them look up her skirt.... Not gona do babies, too many burms already looking for homes, because they get too big...I sure don't need any more burms

lovesnuffles 04-11-2009 03:13 AM

No, please don't do babies with Honey. It'd be a shame to even think about where those babies might end up -.-'

tmmpin 04-11-2009 06:50 AM

Going to the vet is about the best bet. Probing looks easy enough (it actually is once you learn how to do it) but best left to people with experience.
Let is know if Honey is just another boy in drag or not.

lovesnuffles 04-11-2009 12:50 PM

Lol xD Boy in drag xD

I wanna learn how to probe =/ Where does one learn to do that? My vet won't teach me. Wants to get all the money he can from me by having me go to him to get them all probed :P

I am just so not going to go anywhere near answering that.....pmsl:eek:

dale64 04-11-2009 01:19 PM

Ya, that one could go soooo bad in so many ways....lol

DennyS 04-11-2009 02:47 PM

There is a video showing how to pop and probe...the one I have is VHS but it may be on DVD... search engine for probing snakes and see what you can find...

raptor667 04-11-2009 03:57 PM

type snakebytes into youtube and you will find a vid on how to do it and what to look for....and lots of snake and non-snake related silliness

This is the link to the vid on the 4 methods of sexing snakes

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EpMUl...e=channel_page

DodoBird27 04-11-2009 05:18 PM

Thats was a really interesting video...now I have to go dig up some of the old snakebytes videos I haven't seen yet!

dale64 04-12-2009 04:46 AM

Thanks for putting that on....that was a good video, understand probing now and the spurs really good info...thx... I watched a bunch of them never saw that one.... they got about 65 videos

tmmpin 04-12-2009 06:13 AM

I actually had one of the local breeders teach me. While I don't trust myself probing every snake the easy to handle ones are no problem.
My GTP I'm going to take down to the breeder just because of the delicate nature of these snakes.

dale64 04-12-2009 12:22 PM

I would never try it but at least now I know whats going on.... at least I can see how the breeders can look and guess at the sex...love the colors of the gtp... maybe someday

lovesnuffles 04-12-2009 01:48 PM

I'm starting to think I'm gonna get a cheap pair of normal breeding size corns to attempt my first breeding and probing projects with. I don't think I want to risk hurting any of my pets. I know it's not fair for those corns if I hurt them, but hell .... I gotta learn somehow =/ And I'm gonna be extra careful anyway cause I can't stand the thought of hurting them o.o

dale64 04-12-2009 02:41 PM

Wouldn't be easier to learn to probe on a bigger snake like a ball?

lovesnuffles 04-12-2009 04:14 PM

I dunno =/

I hate thinking like this, but:

Corn snakes are cheap and plentiful. Balls are more expensive .... I'd rather learn on corns ... Especially if I've gotta sex those little babies =/

tmmpin 04-12-2009 04:36 PM

Snuffles, just ask people at the reptile show to show you how. A lot of times they will probe them just to show you how and give you little tips as they do it.

lovesnuffles 04-12-2009 10:12 PM

Ok, thanks tmmp o.o I didn't know they did all that at reptile shows.
