My name is Thomas I'm in my last year of high school and will (hopefully) be going to college this fall. I own 3 snakes (1 ball python named Scarface and 2 redtail boa named Hak Benjamin and Dolomite) and I'd like to eventually get a blood python but right now I don't see that happening.

lovesnuffles 02-28-2010 04:27 PM

I'm new here. I'm 21 years old and have been doing a lot of research on owning and caring for a snake. I haven't bought my first one yet, but I should have it next month. I plan on getting a ball python. Right now I'm just getting together all the materials for the snakes enclosure. Love this site though, very informative!

Not sure where to ask this...
Hi my name is Jeanne. I live in the desert south west. This morning I found my kitty face to face with a baby snake. I know NOTHING about snakes. [Once a long time ago we found a Rosey Boa on our property. I think the "Living Desert" currator I contacted also called it a "Red Racer"? ]

ANYWAYYY I was wondering if you could direct me to a site or maybe someone here, can post a picture, of a baby rosey boa so I can confirm what/who's in my backyard. I'm spetty sure it wasnt a rattle snake because it didnt make any noise. ?????

My kitty was on a zip line with a harness, I grabbed the harness and scared the bejezus out of him. He made hamburger meat of my arm but the snake got away no harm.

Thank you,

DodoBird27 08-05-2010 11:45 PM

Thanks for not being one of those people who freak out and bash the poor thing's head in. :)
I'm in California too and I found this awesome site the other day that lists most snakes in California.

This is a Rosey Boa

If that isn't what you saw, then you can browse the rest of the site and see if you find it.

PSJT 08-06-2010 12:01 AM

I would never kill a snake, just want to be careful for my kitty's sake. Thanks SO much for the quick reply. I will let you know what I find out. Thanks for the link too!

PSJT 08-06-2010 12:19 AM

Well I visited that site and while it IS a great location I couldnt find any pictures of baby snakes.

Do you know if baby snakes look just like ...mature snakes? Maybe I should ask in the other forum about raising snakes?

DodoBird27 08-06-2010 01:42 AM

Most snakes look the same as babies and adults.

New comer
Hi , All

I'm from sunny South Africa , always had a love for snakes. I got my first baby (common brown house snake) from our game farm +-2 years ago , she was about the lenght of a beer bottle, since has grown to just over a meter. I got brave and bought a yellow anaconda she currently about 400-600mm so still small but quite tempramental. In addition i have three corn snakes (silver, white, orange).

Any tips?

we do have a pretty good forum here. no egos or attitudes as it should be.

slight 02-05-2011 12:49 AM

i was wondering... i uploaded a pic for my avatar and its not showing up.. i was curious as to why?

algar 02-05-2011 12:50 AM

did you resize it to make it small enough?

slight 02-05-2011 12:53 AM

if you go to my profile its there, but i dont see it on the my posts...

algar 02-05-2011 12:55 AM

go to the user CP and on the left there's "edit avatar" maybe you accidently clicked "edit profile picture" instead? then just make sure it's the right size, i don't think it automatically resizes for you but i could be wrong.

slight 02-05-2011 01:33 AM

tah dah!! lol i didnt know what user cp was... its been forever since ive been on a forum lol! ty algar :D

WiccanWolf88 02-11-2011 02:56 AM

Hello everyone! I am a new member and have no idea yet how to post a picture of Lucy for you, but I will work on it. LOL.
Anyway, Lucy is a red-tail boa about 2 years old. My little girl. I just got her a new cage and all the fixings and she is still getting used to it, but I can tell she likes it. She is very friendly, hates the smell/taste of cigarettes and hair dye. LOL (she talks to me) :D.

slight 02-11-2011 03:20 AM

go to the Members Pet Pictures area, click the button that says new thread type in your post, and it helps to load the pics to ..(other wise they'll be TINY) & also, because then all you have to do is hover over the pic on photobucket after you upload it, click the [IMG] code under the pic... then paste it into your post.. it should work :) and welcome ^-^ I'm new myself and have found this is a very nice site :D
