Default Oh My God!!

Oh my god guys! There is this unsavory pet store we have here in town (it's our only one unfortunately) and I was there to get Lucy some food. Well, a friend of mine was in there the day before with her son who loves to look at the snakes. They have this new cage in the back of the reptile area next to some alligators. Well, this thing they say they have is a 'jungle reticulated python' that is the "biggest and ONLY snake of its kind in the world" (or so the sign says). Anyway, this thing is HUGE and I feel so bad for it cause it's all curled up on it's side because it can't do anything else. It just sits there. If I can get a good pic of it when I go again, I will post it so you can see it. It's ridiculous! I have no idea where they could have gotten it and WHY anyone would give this place the snake, of all places. It has to be at least 20 feet long.

I think those are part retic and part burms. And there are many out there.

The latest vid from snakebytes on youtube is on hybrid snakes, and they have a jungle retic on there it's a jungle carpet x retic....interesting to watch and then think "why the hell would you do that". Would be interested in seeing a pic though.

Your only other option would be to report the shop to the RSPCA or SPCA depending on where you live....unfortunately they are usually not as clued up on snakes and their welfare as we are....which is a real shame.

My SPCA would go to town on them! >:[ Yes, I'd call and report it, most definitely. That poor snake.

They have been reported to the SPCA numerous times and they were in the news/investigated a few years ago for dead animals in cages...I think I will be making a call. A friend of mine that raised snakes for years said that it is dangerous being kept that way; but he is not surprised by it. They are scum.

I really have no idea. When I go there for the food, I will try to stay away from the kitty and doggy cages, plus the reptiles. They always look so sad and they are not kept up. I have no clue how they get away with it; they might still have stuff somewhere on the internet about the last time they were investigated. I will try to look.
But it's called Pet's Plus in Lockport, NY. They found dead animals in some of the cages. This was a few years ago.

Would this be the one then? http://www.pet-abuse.com/cases/9266/NY/US/
That's sad, they shouldn't be getting away with still being open.
That article came up along with some customer reviews and ratings when I Googled it. Seems like everyone has seen the dead and decomposing animals in that shop. Definitely make that call to the SPCA and get them shut down!

Wow ... after reading that they're STILL not shut down? And it's still going on?! What the heck, does law enforcement in New York just not care?

Yup Dodo, that is them. I have no idea what standards they are using for animal care, but I can tell you personally that every time I am in there, the snakes look either dead, or they are trying like hell to get out of the little tanks. Even the turtles and lizards they have look either dead/dehydrated or overactive to get out. And they hardly have any water (if they do, it's dirty and feces filled). Terrible.
