Arrow Importing

Does anyone know anything about importing snakes, I want to get a snake from America to Australia. I figured I'd ask on here and see if anyone knew what was involved in the process, before I go on a hunt for the info myself.

Any help is muchly appreciated.

As long as it's not a burmese python, rock python or yellow anaconda, you're good. What kind of snake are you looking for? You'll have to find a breeder who is willing to ship worldwide. My recommendation is to go for one of the bigger breeders: Bob Clark, Ben Siegel, NERD, Ralph Davis, etc. etc. They'll usually ship worldwide. It's gonna cost you a pretty penny though ... Might be easier to find one in Australia. Our member Roy is from Australia. He can probably help you out with getting a snake.

I agree with Snuffles, Roy should be able to direct you in getting the snake you are interested in from a local breeder there. The Aussy Customs is where you will need to get the info otherwise.

The laws here in Australia are very strict. Boas are also on a list of snakes that can't be allowed into the country because we have the perfect climate for them. I have heard of someone owning a corn snake over here though. I'll do some research and try to find out about importing, but we do have a huge variety of native snakes that can be purchased.

You could contact Ultimate Reptile Suppliers, they may be in the Know about importing, if not they have a good range of native snakes.

Thanks!
I was after a hognose... I have no idea if it's doable or not, and there are always other options, but this is my first choice.

Nice choice of snake if you can get one in the country.
